Danny Johnson Player Profile
Debut: Mansfield Town (A, 0-1), 07/02/2015
Danny Johnson was a young lad when he joined Stevenage on loan in January 2015, but he had no shortage of experience to impart. He may have started his career in the north east, but his career had already taken him to Spain and some hugely impressive goalscoring fortune in non-league before Graham Westley called.
Footballing life had started for Johnson at his native Middlesbrough, before switching to Hartlepool United. In what some might consider an unusual move, he left the north east for sunnier climes at Real Murcia B in Spain – but it was a brief stay.
Johnson returned to England and ended up at Harrogate Town for a brief time, before Billington Synthonia gave him a stage on which the striker displayed his aptitude for finding the net. After that, however, was the moment people started to take notice.
Guisborough Town might not be known to all, but when you score 50 times in pretty much as many appearances, you have something about you. And it was that nouse for goal that had Cardiff City interested. The Welsh club snapped him up and loaned him out – but the goals didn’t flow so fluently… Stevenage swooped to see if that eye for goal could be brought back into focus.
