Josh Clarke is one of what turned out to be a handful of young midfielders drafted in on loan by manager Graham Westley in October 2014; our squad starting to feel the burn from injuries. After being spotted by Brentford, he signed up at Griffin Park in 2011 and plyed his trade in their Development Squad, before gaining first team experience out on loan at a number of non-league clubs.
Arriving at Boro’, Clarke didn’t have a huge amount of Football League experience. But he did have plenty of potential to realise; us providing a chance for the midfielder to state his case at League level. Mind you, it’s hard to do a lot in one sub appearance. And that’s all he got during his time with us. Back to Brentford he went arguably none the better for his time here. But, we’re writing this in 2019 and he’s still on their books, so can’t all be bad?
