A man that needs no introduction, but that’s not going to stop us from introducing him. Dave Beasant is a goalkeeper with a distinguished career at the top level behind him – not to mention being the first keeper to save a spot kick in an FA Cup Final.

It’s unlikely that, after following son Sam to Boro’ in summer 2014 to take up a coaching role, that he’d thought he’d be called into first team action. But that’s how his career was seemingly reignited as injuries forced manager Graham Westley to name him on the bench in October 2014.

At the tender age of 55, it’s unlikely that we’ll be seeing much of Dave in action during his time with the club, but – as we found out at Carlisle – anything is possible on that front…
