Drewe Broughton

Date of Birth: 25-10-1978

Place of Birth: Hitchin

After signing for us on loan in late 2000, Drewe Broughton made an instant impact; scoring two goals on his Boro’ debut against Forest Green Rovers. With a fair wedge of Football League experience behind him, the forward came to us from Peterborough United. Sadly, his time with us was a short one. Broughton played just four times for us; scoring three times while here. In terms of goal returns, that must rank among the most impressive of any striker to play for us. Then again, it is a small sample size…

Drewe Broughton: After Boro’

After heading back to Posh, it wasn’t long before Broughton was heading back out on loan. His parent club must’ve preferred a League club for him as he wound up at Jan Molby’s Kidderminster Harriers – then of Division Three (or whatever it was called). It started out as a loan deal, but was made permanent just one month later.

After making more than 100 appearances in a season-and-a-bit, Kiddy let Broughton go; the forward making the switch to Southend United. He’d go on to feature for a number of other clubs between arriving at Roots Hall in summer 2003 and seemingly hanging up his boots in 2012; Rotherham United and Lincoln City just two of the sides to add to the list.
