Rob Marshall

Date of Birth:

Place of Birth:

Rob Marshall spent a brief time at Broadhall Way; the defender turning out just three times for us before moving onto pastures new. His debut came in an away defeat against Yeovil Town in the opening game of the 1997-8 season. He would end up waiting more than three months for his next outing, however. That was again against the Glovers, and again it’d end in defeat; Boro’ crushed by three goals to nil in our home Spalding Cup tie.

There would be one more opportunity for Marshall to make a case for himself as the season wore on. Not for the first time, the end result wasn’t a glowing reflection on anyone concerned as we were held by Chesham United in the First Round of the FA Trophy at Broadhall Way. All in all, the defender’s return for the 1997-8 season was two starts and an extra appearance from the bench in that Trophy tie.

Rob Marshall: After Boro’

Our records don’t really show what became of the defender in the immediate aftermath of that troubled campaign. He didn’t make any more first team appearances for us after January 1998. And the next record we can find of him is when he rocked up at Basingstoke Town in 2000. We can’t quite place his career trajectory to the finest detail after that, but there were a few more clubs who gave him a chance. And it was at Eastleigh, who we believe he joined in 2003, that we lose sight of Marshall’s path.
