Dean Wood was a promising young player who broke into the Stevenage Borough first team towards the start of the 1992-3 campaign. An injury sustained in the FA Cup encounter with St Albans, however, kept him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Wood returned for pre-season in summer 1993 with a determination to pick up where he had left off. That hope was shattered by an accident shortly after his return to the training ground that left him with multiple injuries.

He made an excellent recovery from his injuries after an extended period of time, but Boro’ fans never had the chance to see Wood take to the pitch in the red and white again.
