You can’t choose your parents as the saying goes – and that’s something young defender Louie Henry may consider to be a blessing or curse. You see, Louie is the son of a certain Ronnie Henry; maker of the most appearances that anyone has ever made for Boro’. Like his father, Louie found himself treading the turf boards in defence. Maybe also like his dad in years to come, he’ll be well into the hundreds with the number of times he plays for us. Sure, it’ll looks like a mountain to climb now. But sure isn’t time on his side when breaking into first team consideration during his late teens.
Ronnie didn’t make his Boro’ debut until age 21.
In coming through the academy at the Lamex, Louie formed part of a set-up that was starting to offer a growing number of opportunities to youth prospects. Of course, only the best would see their way through to inclusion. And Louie fell into that bracket. His first taste of senior action would come in early 2024 on loan at Potters Bar Town. A work experience gig as it was known at the time, don’t you know? Fast forward 11 months and Louie took his seat on the first team bench here for the first time in a Football League Trophy tie against Gillingham. Now to start eating into his father’s mammoth total!
