Who Are... Witney Town FC?
Witney Town folded in 2001 nearly 50 years after helping to find the Hellenic League. At the club's peak, they finished 5th in the Southern League Premier Division in 1983/4 and were almost within touching distance of the Conference. However, that was as good as it got and the club dropped out of the Premier Division in 1988. Between then and folding in 2001, the club competed in both the Southern League Southern Division and later the Eastern Division.

A new club, Witney United, has since been set up to restore football in the Oxfordshire town.
