The remarkable rise of Stevenage showed no signs of slowing up in the 2011-2 campaign. An early 5-1 demolition of Sheffield Wednesday demonstrated that, with Boro' staking their claim for a shot at the playoffs very early on. And there seemed little would derail the Boro' charge as the season wore on into the New Year. But, then again, change was still a-coming.

Graham Westley resigned his post in early 2012 to take up the reins of Preston, with Gary Smith the man charged with replacing him. The change failed to shake Boro' from the top six, while another famed FA Cup run continued after seeing off Reading on their own patch - Tottenham taken to a replay in which Boro' took an early lead, before being overpowered by a star-studded Spurs side.

Most appearances: Lawrie Wilson and Mark Roberts and Scott Laird - 56

Top goalscorer: Chris Beardsley - 10
