Stevenage Seasons 2006-7

Mark Stimson

Conf = Conference National
FAC = FA Cup
FAT = FA Trophy

For the first time in a number of seasons, there was a changing of the guard at Stevenage Borough in 2006. Mark Stimson came in as manager and overhauled the playing style, which was slow to deliver results but soon paid dividends. A significant part of that was the goalscoring form of new signing Steve Morison, who went on to score 34 times during the season.

A disappointing run in the FA Cup saw Boro' lose to Wrexham in the first round, but Stimmo had his eyes on a third straight FA Trophy success - and he duly delivered. Boro' became the first team to win a competitive final at the new Wembley Stadium, coming from two behind to beat Kidderminster Harriers. More importantly, the foundations of an exciting team were taking shape.

Most appearances: John Nutter - 56

Top goalscorer: Steve Morison - 34
