The club's highest ever scorer with a vast number of goals netted over four spells at the club. The potent scorer had also knocked in goals for a number of other clubs including Baldock Town, Hitchin Town and Barnet, the latter of which he left to return for a spell with Stevenage in December 1986.

In addition to scoring his 200th goal for Boro in the 1993-94 season, Martin picked up the Player of the Year trophy - an award he first won eight years previously.

After rejoining the club in the 1990-1991 season, Martin knocked in a staggering 119 goals before he left in 1995, with a tally of 44 goals in the 1991-92 season; a club record that continues to stand.
