FIFA 20 Verdict: Stevenage v Walsall [29 Feb 2020]

For a moment, we thought our FIFA 20 Verdict was going to land one on the nose last week. So, that’s a decent enough reason to try it again. If Crawley hadn’t seen the need to score a late second goal, we’d have got it spot on. And you wouldn’t have heard the end of it. Well, maybe not. We’re not like that. But what of this week’s arrival of Walsall on our doorstep? Is this semi-accurate system of predicting match outcomes gonna have another near miss?

If it a close run thing between our FIFA 20 Verdict and real life, we’re in for some right ups and downs. On the face of it, this is probably a game that isn’t expected to serve up many goals. Somehow, we managed to end up with six shared equally. It’s not quite the haul we would want. But we’ll take a point if we find ourselves behind on three separate occasions.

Stevenage – 3 (Kemp 23, Mackail-Smith 43, Parkhouse 84)
Walsall – 3
(Sinclair 17, Gordon 31, Adebayo 77)

Team (4-5-1):
Farman — James-Wildin, Nugent, Soares, Leesley — List, Carter, Parrett, Lakin, Kemp — Mackail-Smith

Subs:
Bastien, Digby (Carter 84), TVC, Cassidy, Folami (Kemp 69), Denton, Parkhouse (Mackail-Smith 73)

Bookings:
Soares, Carter

Boro’ MOM:
Lakin – 9.1 / 10

Difficulty:
Legendary

What odds on fiction becoming fact?
You could probably empty the bookies‘ coffers if fact became fiction. While the chances of a draw are probably high enough, goals are – well – not. To play this safe, therefore, 17/10 (Betway) is the best we’ve seen on the draw. If you’re feeling mighty brave, you could find 3-3 at 90/1 (BetVictor) on the correct score market. Or maybe 22/1 (multiple) on Over 5.5 Goals is more your bag? We know it’s a stretch, but risk and reward and all that. Elsewhere:

  • Stuart Sinclair to be first goalscorer – 16s (multiple)
  • David Parkhouse to score at any time – 3s (multiple)

Now, our fun stopped as soon as the final whistle went here. If you’re having a punt and the fun stops, so should you.
