Brentford (A): Take Two…

By BoroGuide

Peter GriffinRight, no mucking about now. After a waterlogged pitch put paid to our originally-planned trip to West London shortly before Christmas, we’re going to catch the weather out tonight and get this game played. For us, it’s quite a decent time to be taking on Brentford. And for them, it’s arguably fair to say the same of taking on us. It could well be an interesting game to call under the Peter Griffin Park lights.

We could do a better start than, say, how we started at Carlisle. A deficit of two goals and one man isn’t a great place to be in after 15 minutes. But we held strong, gained a goal back and did well under the circumstances. If we can apply ourselves similarly tonight, we’ll be alright.

On paper, we’ve lost six of our last eight matches and it’s almost an unprecedented stretch of results for us – certainly in more recent years. But it is League One and it’s not supposed to be easy. We’re just finding that out the hard way right now. Brentford aren’t exactly on a ferocious run of form lately either – no wins in five outings (if you include Chelsea) and yet to pick up a league point against Stevenage.

We’re all about the clutching at straws but we can work some more magic tonight. If we’re steadfast in our belief that being more attacking-minded and that we can hold out when it seems the odds are all stacked against us, then why not? It will certainly be tough, and we have no doubt about that. But we believe we can win this one – who knows, somebody else out there this afternoon might do too!

FIFA 13 Verdict:
We’d probably have won, as you well know dear reader…

Bookmakers’ Verdict:
Big calls generate big rewards, and a big call today will be to lump on a Boro’ victory. We just saw it down as 7/2 with Skybet and Pinnacle has it at 31/11. Brentford, unsurprisingly, are heavily favoured and Ladbrokes’ 17/20 is the best you’ll probably find. Elsewhere, both teams to score is a tantalising Evens at Coral and Robin Shroot is 11/1 to be last goalscorer (with four companies). How big will your call be? Everything correct when written…
