With a rather tough Christmas schedule fast appearing on the horizon, it would have been preferable to take as large a helping as possible from December’s platter of starters – away at Hartlepool and home to Crawley. But something happened in a mad four minutes at the Lamex on Saturday that means we’re moving straight onto the festive main course with an appetite for points to satisfy.
For the first time in 74 games and since December 2009, we have lost a game after netting the first goal of the game. It always hurts to lose a record and this one is no different. But it is Boro’ we’re talking about here – and hopefully that feeling will set the foundations for an even better run. And when you’re still just four points from the top of the division, it bodes rather well don’t you think?
Looking ahead, Brentford are on a sickeningly good run of form at the moment and we will probably find Saturday’s adventure to west London to be rather tasty. If we can nab a point there, it will be a decent achievement. Is the win impossible? A very difficult task, that’s for sure, but not impossible. Especially with the resilience we’ve come to expect from this club in recent years – but we’ll see.
Until then, we’ll have the preview later this week and two special editions of Old Toffee; the first starting tomorrow with the second part of the Jon Nurse/Adam Miller special. Stay classy Stevenage!
