BORO' CAREER:
|
Debut: vs Woking (A), 05/10/2001
Arguably one of the longest serving players Boro' has had in recent years, Simon Wormull was signed by Paul Fairclough in 2001 from Rushden & Diamonds and saw three other managers during his stay at the club.
In a Boro' shirt, Wormull's passing and dead ball ability were always of a high quality, although he couldn't match his achievements at Rushden where he won the Conference. His stay at Broadhall Way did yield an FA Trophy final, yet he fell out of favour in 2004 when Graham Westley arrived.
Wormull's departure was somewhat inevitable. Having been tried out in various positions by Westley, most notably in the centre of midfield, Wormull was most at home on the right but never managed to secure a stranglehold on the position and was denied the opportunity to bring up a ton of Boro' starts.
