Originally signed by Mark Stimson in 2007, Lawrie Wilson made a slow start to his career at Broadhall Way as players ahead of him in the pecking order cemented their position in the Boro' team, making it difficult for the right-sided player to force his way into contention on the right.

The influx of loan signings under the stewardship of Peter Taylor also failed to provide the stability and settled atmosphere needed for Wilson to make an impact, but slowly he made progress. Under Graham Westley, Wilson has now developed into a tenacious utility player with plenty of gusto and determination.

While some may choose to remember him for being that guy photographed in a downmarket rag with a woman who used to date another footballer, Boro' fans would much rather focus on the driven young athlete who has made his presence felt across the defence and midfield, giving as good as he gets to opposition players.

A sickening leg-break against Rushden and Diamonds cut Wilson's season to an abrupt end during the early stages of the 2009/10 campaign, but he returned to consolidate Boro's run-in towards the title after completing a superb recovery and continued that form into the Football League.

Stats do not include expunged Chester City fixtures in 2009/10.
