BORO' CAREER:
|
Debut: vs Stalybridge Celtic (H), 18/08/2001
Martin Williams was signed by Paul Fairclough to provide options in midfield and up front, and it was often a mystery as to what position he was most comfortable in. His career had seen a number of League clubs added to the CV, ensuring that his addition was one that would bring some experience.
Despite nearly a half-century of starts for the Broadhall Way club, there were often times where the player didn't quite always seem up for the fight. A flighty, pacy man on the best of days; a lethargic, tempremental one on others.
Few goals indicated a preference for using Williams as a midfielder more often than not, but Willo can lay claim to one of the finest goals scored in Boro' colours when he rounded the entire Northwich Victoria team twice in 2002 before calmly slotting home.
