Westhead arrived at Broadhall Way in the summer of 2002 after Boro' had released their two goalkeepers from the previous season. In three years at the club, however, he only accumulated a half century of appearances due to injury and competition for the number one jersey from Dean Greygoose and Lionel Perez.
The goalkeeper spent a brief period at Hornchurch in the 2004/5 season but returned to Boro' as the Essex club hit financial difficulty, only to leave Broadhall Way in the summer of 2005 for the last time.
