Having successfully claimed the right-back position from Simon Travis, Michael Warner featured heavily in the run-in that saw Boro' reach the 2004/5 playoff final. In fact, Warner so nearly forced the final against Carlisle into extra time, after a barraging run into the box only to be denied by the goalkeeper.

The 2005/6 season saw Warner feature as prominently, making over thirty starts over the course of the season. However, failure to make the playoffs led to a cull of players, and Warner was one of many players to leave Broadhall Way, agonisingly enough just four starts away from what would have been his ton.

Ever reliable, Warner was a steady performer at right back, although evidently not what Boro' need to top their playoff performance of 2005.
