A former Stevenage Borough goalkeeper, David Tilley took his place between the sticks against Irthlingborough Diamonds on the opening day of the 1982/3 season but found his game curtailed by a broken leg shortly before the half-time interval.
The injury was to keep Tilley out for the entire season and ultimately brought the curtain down on his Boro' career, before moving onto Ibrox in the North Herts League.
