A New Zealand international striker, Tim Stevens joined Stevenage Borough on a short-term basis towards the end of 1997 after trials at Reading and Bournemouth in the Football League. In his brief stint, he showed glimpses of striking talent illustrated by a favourable return of three goals.
Having enjoyed a successful stint in his native New Zealand with North Shore United prior to his attempts to start a career in English football, Stevens won a number of awards following a successful National League campaign with the club he had joined as a senior player in 1993.
He made a brief return to North Shore United after his spell in England, as well as Waitakere, before moving onto Football Kingz. Although based in Auckland, the club had been granted special FIFA dispensation to compete in the Australian National Soccer League setup due to New Zealand being unable to support a fully-professional league.
The Kingz have since been replaced in what became known as the Hyundai A-League by Wellington Phoenix.
