Boro' Debut: vs Farnborough Town (H), 29/01/2005

In a quest to sign a striker who could score goals on a regular basis, Darryn Stamp was signed in January 2005 ahead of Stevenage Borough's push to make the Conference playoffs. Amazingly, Stamp had fallen out of favour at the Deva Stadium and had spent time on loan at Kidderminster Harriers during the 2004/5 season before securing a move to Broadhall Way, and the signature was met with an unhappy reaction from Chester fans who didn't want to see him go. Stamp made an instant impact, scoring twice on his debut against Farnborough, before notching up a total of eight goals in nineteen starts as the 2004/5 season came to an end.

His form continued into the 2005/6 season, and with thirteen goals to his name, Stampy finished as Boro's top scorer. Having been retained for the 2006/7 season, there was belief in Stamp's abilities, although the striker soon found himself at York City on loan before a permanent switch to Halifax Town was completed in January 2007.
