Debut: vs Northwich Victoria (H), 17/08/2002
One half of a double signing just before the start of the 2002/03 season, Neil Smith came with the reputation of a "gritty" midfielder, and that was proved immediately by his booking on his debut against Northwich in the first game of the 2002/3 season.
Smith's career sheet reads quite nicely, with spells at clubs such as Reading, Fulham, after starting at Spurs. What happened in the Broadhall Way chapter of his career book was somewhat less exciting however, and four starts and four sub appearances later he moved on, not aided by a niggling knee injury.
Neil moved on to join rivals Woking where he enjoyed a slightly longer period, although still suffering from injury.
