Energetic midfielder Robin Shoot joined the Stevenage ranks in summer 2011 after impressing manager Graham Westley in a handful of pre-season appearances. It was the player's first club since being released by Premier League outfit Birmingham City at the end of the 2010/1 campaign.
A winger by trade, Shroot was rewarded with a two-year contract by Westley and enabled the player to get his career back on track after a handful of loan spells during his time at City; Walsall, Burton Albion and Cheltenham Town those sides to take Shroot on in his two years at St Andrews.
Prior to his move to Birmingham City, Shroot enjoyed a successful stint at Harrow Borough after initially joining the club on loan from AFC Wimbledon. In playing for the Dons, Shroot ensured that he had played for both incarnations of Wimbledon teams.
We say that because Shroot was snapped up by the old Wimbledon as a young kid - eight years old to be precise. He left the Dons aged 16 and made a switch to Staines Town and that was where his senior career got underway.
Joining Boro' was an opportunity for Shroot to demonstrate Birmingham City's ill-judgement in releasing the player without giving him much chance to shine, but it also provided the Hertfordshire side with an opportunity to add a new, pacy dimension to their flanks heading into League One.
