Arguably one of the most iconic figures to have graced Broadhall Way, not since the temporary stay of Ray Houghton had Boro' made a signing of such magnitude, with the former Newcastle and Sunderland goalkeeper Lionel Perez joining as a rival to Mark Westhead.
