Junior Mendes signed on loan for Stevenage Borough from League Two side, Aldershot Town, towards the end of the 2008/9 season in a bid to provide attacking cover as Boro' pressed for the playoffs. Arriving on deadline day, Mendes brought with him a career full of experience in the lower leagues.
Mendes had also experienced life in Scottish football before his arrival in Hertfordshire. However, the deal was not to be made permanent by manager Graham Westley, and he left the club after the season came to a close.
