Clark Masters joined Stevenage Borough on loan in January 2008 immediately after moving from Brentford to Southend United. After spells on loan at Slough Town, AFC Wimbledon and Welling United, Boro' represented a step up in terms of the standard of football Masters had been used to for a couple of seasons.
His debut for Boro', in front of Setanta cameras at Burton Albion, failed to inspire confidence, with the young stopper at fault for one of the goals in a 3-0 defeat. Another questionable display at home to Northwich saw the goalkeeper fail to stop a relatively weak effort from going in.
Amends were made, however, with an assured display against Halifax Town, a game that Boro' went onto win.
