Having quickly established himself as a firm fans' favourite among the Stevenage Borough faithful, young defender Scott Laird arrived at Broadhall Way on a loan deal from Plymouth Argyle under the tenure of Peter Taylor and it soon appeared as if the arrangment was quickly to be made permanent. Big-hearted performances as Boro's first-choice left back have ensured that he has a great future ahead of him in the game; much to the benefit of Boro's cause.
Graham Westley has continued to bring the player on since his return to Broadhall Way; the mark of Laird's development was his call up to the England C squad at the end of the 2008/9 campaign despite having previously represented his ancestral Scotland at youth level. Moving forward, fans will be hoping that Laird can continue to step up and ensure that he is an integral part of a watertight Boro' defence in the quest for promotion. The future is bright.
