Graham Westley knew what he was getting when he secured the signature of Richard Hodgson on deadline day in 2004. The talented midfielder has twice been the nemesis of Boro' over the course of two seasons, firstly with Darlington and then with Farnborough.

Hodgson had demonstrated a keen eye for goal when it came to coming up against the Hertfordshire team and the midfielder was supposed bring an extra dimension to Boro's midfield, which was especially crucial for creative purposes on the occasions when Simon Wormull or Dean Brennan were out of action.

But the player never really lived up to the billing at Boro', with four starts and three substitute appearances yielding little in the way of match-winning ability. It was no surprise, and no great loss, when the player moved on without much fuss.
