Hatton is yet another member of a successful youth system that has produced players for Boro' in recent years. Awarded a squad number for the start of the 2005/6 season having broken into the first team the season before, Hatton didn't make first team action during the 2005/6 season.
By being retained for the 2006/7 season, there were hopes that Hatton continues to develop as he had done at Broadhall Way. But an increasing amount of loan spells suggested that it would be unlikely that the young midfielder would break into the Stevenage first team squad.
As a result, Hatton was allowed to move on in 2007 by manager Mark Stimson. Hatton moved to South London, signing for AFC Wimbledon.
