In what proved to be a long-running "will-he-won't-he" scenario, Paul Hakim finally joined Stevenage Borough on the last day of the January 2007 transfer window, commanding a four-figure sum from his former club, St. Albans City.
Manager Mark Stimson pipped a couple of other clubs to Hakim's signature, and the player would have been hoping to rekindle his successful strike partnership with Steve Morison from their time at Bishop's Stortford.
But the move didn't work out, and Hakim's first team chances were restricted to say the least. He was sent to Woking on loan in 2007 before completing a permanent switch back to Clarence Park in January 2008.
