Boro' Debut: vs Chesham United (A), 13/01/1998
James Dillnutt came through the club's EFCO scheme and was thrown in the deep end in 1998, when he was given the task to keep out Shearer and co when Stevenage met Newcastle in the FA Cup. He, along with the rest of the team, excelled and took the Premier League side to a replay, where they eventually went down 2-1.
Dillnutt made a few more appearances for Boro', but failed to break through to the first team. Richard Hill took over from Paul Fairclough and deemed Dillnutt surplus to requirements. He left the club to sign for Hitchin, before moves to the likes of Boreham Wood, Biggleswade Town, Arlesey and Hemel Hempstead.
