BORO' CAREER:
|
Debut: vs Forest Green Rovers (H), 01/03/2003
Jamie Cook joined Stevenage Borough towards the end of February 2003 from Boston United, and immediately made an impact at Broadhall Way. Not since the departure of Adrian Clarke had Boro' found a left-winger who could attack the wings and deliver a half-decent cross, leaving the paltry attempts of Scott Houghton and Michael Blackwood to the dustbin of history.
Together with more than 100 appearances at Football League level, Cook added seven starts and six substitute appearances at Boro' to his resume, and finished the season as Boro's top rated player.
For whatever motive lay behind the player's departure, the decision is made to look all the more explicable by the player's good form at Crawley Town and Oxford United in following seasons. Yet, sometimes players and clubs don't match up as well as is often desired and Cookie was one that got away from Broadhall Way.
