Conroy came to Broadhall Way with extraordinary experience at Non-League level. He joined Borough in the summer of 1994 from local neighbours Hitchin, where he had been their top scorer the previous season.

Hitchin received £10,000 in a deal, which took Conroy to Kingstonian in February 1990 and then signed for Harrow Borough a year later, where he was top scorer that season. He rejoined Hitchin in 1993/4, having also played at Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Chesham.

After losing favour at Broadhall Way, Conroy - the scorer of Boro's first ever Conference goal - left to join Aylesbury.
