Adrian ClarkeSigned by Paul Fairclough in the summer of 2000, Clarkie was on his way to legendary status with the Boro' faithful. After nine first-team starts, Clarkie was released by Arsenal and signed for Southend, turning down an approach by Ipswich. He played his last game for the Shrimpers against Cheltenham, coming on for the 'ineffective Scott Houghton'.

Despite sometimes being one of the quieter players on the pitch, he often lit up games with a thunderbolt from outside the area, scoring 19 goals in 75 appearances (plus 11 substitute appearances) was his return and is a good ratio for any left winger. He was a very attacking winger who seemed to play below par while playing the wing back role.

He was probably the most influential player in getting Boro' to the 2002 FA Trophy final, but sadly played below par, along with the rest of the team, on the biggest of all non-league stages. It seemed that the longer he was at Stevenage, the better he became, however despite scoring a hat-full of goals in his last season, he was frozen out by Wayne Turner.

Talking to many fans, he said how much he loved the club, and how he didn't want to leave. But he couldn't obtain first team football here, and he moved elsewhere, giving Margate a gem of a player in the process.

Good luck Clarkie.
