Midfielder David Bridges signed for Stevenage Borough in May 2008 from newly-promoted Kettering Town. The 25-year-old stylish midfielder, who also had successful spells at Cambridge United, Histon and SK Riga in Latvia, comes with a surprising amount of experience for a man of his age, and Boro' will be hoping that he can show his best while at Broadhall Way.
The player, however, joined Boro' at a time when competition for midfield berths was starting to get extremely competitive. While in the player's best interests to get into his stride at Broadhall Way quickly, and stamp his mark on the centre of the park, Bridges' season was curtailed by injury on two occasions. The first kept him out until December 2008, although he came back to show remarkable aptitude and a goalscoring prowess that was highly treasured.
A collision with Billy Turley towards the end of 2008/9 season ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign, but everyone at Boro' was aware of his ability and it was a contributing factor to Boro's title-winning success in 2010. Largely injury-free, the deft nature of the midfielder's play brought him goals and assists a-plenty. Although he saw red in the 2010 FA Trophy Final, it is not something that will detract from his contribution in getting Boro' to Wembley.
The midfielder left Boro' in summer 2011 for Kettering Town after a limited chance to shine in the Football League.
