Boro' Debut: vs Wrexham (A), 09/08/2008

A proven goalscorer at Blue Square Premier level, Stevenage Borough manager Graham Westley moved to snap up Lee Boylan from promotion rivals Cambridge United during the summer of 2008 for an undisclosed fee. Boylan has amassed a long and distinguished track career of scoring goals in the top flight of non-league football; a far cry from when he left Stevenage Borough in 2001 with just a single, fruitless appearance to his name.

In the interim seven years, he went away to Canvey Island and scored a dazzling 136 goals in 178 appearances before going onto Grays Athletic and then Cambridge. His addition to the Boro' squad meant that the Hertfordshire side had an embarrassment of riches up front ahead of the 2008/9 season, and giving Graham Westley hope that he can call upon Boylan for when a goal is needed. While Steve Morison scored the majority of Boro's goals, Boylan kept chipping in and now the void left by Moro's departure will demand the former Canvey Island man to step up yet again. It's a challenge many are confident he can meet.
