Frequently seen filling the substitute goalkeeper role during his time at Stevenage Borough, Graham Benstead joined the club from Farnborough Town following Graham Westley's initial appointment as manager. Benstead was later named goalkeeping coach and warmed the bench.
Despite his substitute goalkeeper role, fate never conspired to cause Boro' to require his playing services. He remained at the club, even after the goalkeeping coach mantle was later to be passed on to Frenchman Lionel Perez.
