One of three players who joined Boro' on deadline day 2004, albeit on a month's loan, Lee Barnard comes from Premiership wannabes Tottenham Hotspur with the intention of creating a name for himself at Conference level, whilst making himself noticed back at White Hart Lane for future references.

Having already spent a bit of time on loan at Exeter City during the 2002/3 campaign, Barnard had some idea of what was expected of him. But the description of him as a new Teddy Sheringham was bound to have an impact on Boro' supporters' hopes and expectations while the player was at Broadhall Way.

A handful of apperances and a solitary goal didn't paint a full picture of his abilities, but Barnard has since proved himself at Football League level - albeit as one of many Tottenham youngsters that didn't make Premier League quality.
