Gordon Allinson was the first man to take charge of a Stevenage Borough side following the club's formation in 1976. Starting out life as a youth team, Boro' the Eastern Counties Youth Cup on two occasions before turning senior and joining the Wallspan Southern Combination League in 1979.
Although Derek Montgomery took the reins in 1979, Allinson remained at the club as reserve manager and took many of the original youth players under his wing.
