Who Are... Wrexham FC?
Wrexham have a rich footballing history behind them both in domestic and continental football, but recent off-field problems have plagued them in recent years which have conspired against them. It appears that, fortunately, they are on the way out of that spell of difficulty although they will have to start from scratch in the Blue Square Premier. Having spent a spell of time in administration in recent years, the mandatory ten point deduction saw them relegated from League One in 2005 despite a valiant battle to avoid the drop, which eventually came by only the slightest margin.

Relegation will be a bitter pill to swallow for the Welsh side; they will be the first side from the Principality to compete in the top tier of non-league football since Merthyr Tydfil fell away in recent years (or if you wish to include Chester City). But with Brian Little at the helm, they represent a formidable challenge to any aspiring title challenger. The side were simply not good enough in the 2007/8 League Two campaign, and were consigned to their fate well ahead of the season's close.

Depending on who you go with, Wrexham were between second and third favourites for the 2008/9 title. While not always being an accurate litmus test for the real thing, Wrexham were hotly tipped for an immediate return to the Football League. But there has been a precedent for ex-League sides to falter at their first attempt in the Blue Square Premier, and a mediocre 10th position come May 2009 illustrated the change in personnel required during the season. Another disappointing season ensued in 2009/10, and the club must beware becoming too accustomed to Blue Sqaure Premier life.
