Wrexham have a rich footballing history behind them both in domestic and continental football, but off-field problems plagued them in recent years which had conspired against them. It appears that, fortunately, they are on the way out of that spell of difficulty in the Blue Square Premier.
The first side from the Principality to compete in the top tier of non-league football since Merthyr Tydfil (or if you wish to include Chester City), it was nearly the case that Wrexham returned to the Football League in 2010/1 through the playoffs - despite off-the-pitch ownership battles. During their time in the Blue Square Premier, Wrexham have consolidated and started to push upwards. Perhaps the supporters may be starting to hope that the progress will continue and that a return to the Football League may come about sooner rather than later.
