Despite having spent recent seasons yo-yoing between the Premier League and the Coca-Cola Championship, West Bromwich Albion is one of the most successful clubs in English football and enjoyed a particular fruitful spell before the Second World War.
In 1919, the Baggies wrapped up the Football League Championship for the first and only time in the club's history, while three of the club's five FA Cup successes came ahead of World War Two. The Baggies may well be disappointed that their UEFA Cup exploits in 1978/9 was ended at the hands of Dunfermline Athletic but the club has a lot to be proud of over the years, and the main aim is to maintain Premier League status following promotion back to the top flight in 2010.
