HISTORY

In recent years, Watford have been unrivalled as the number one team in Hertfordshire. On two separate occasions, the Hornets have gained promotion to the Premier League, and although on both occasions their stay was a brief one, it put the football club firmly on the map.

The club has also been able to attract some big names to Vicarage Road, most notably the appointment of former Chelsea and Juventus striker, Gianluca Vialli, as manager. Meanwhile, legendary singer Elton John's involvement with the club is well-documented over the years.

Apperances against Boro' in recent years, understandably, have been limited to county cups, although it's undoubtedly the case that Boro' fans will be hoping that perhaps one day, the balance of power can be shifted from south to north Herts.
