HISTORY

A relatively young club, Thurrock FC was originally called Purfleet for the first 18 years of its existence and the change preceded a strong finish in the 2003/4 season; the club was included in the Conference South and was only denied promotion to the Conference National by Eastbourne Borough in the playoffs.

However, fortunes took a turn for the worse and Thurrock found itself battling relegation rather than fighting at the top end of the division. In 2010/1, the club finished 20th and would have been relegated but for the removal of Rushden & Diamonds from the league above them.
