Stafford Rangers were the very first team Stevenage Borough faced as a Vauxhall Conference team way back in 1994, and Boro' left the Marston Stadium with a 3-0 victory. Rangers were relegated that season and suffered another relegation into the Dr Martens Midland Division the following campaign.

Yet, a decade or so later, Stafford Rangers reclimbed the pyramid and come back into the Nationwide Conference as the Conference North playoff victors. Life back in the non-league elite was tough going for the Staffordshire side, finishing one place above the relegation places in 2006/7.
