Although the West London club's fortunes have been muted in recent seasons, Queens Park Rangers have a lot to shout about when it comes to achievements over the decades since becoming a founder member of Division Three South in 1920.

QPR's best years arguably kicked off in 1966, when the club became the first Third Division representative to lift the League Cup as well as gaining promotion to Division Two along the way. Further more, the following season produced a second place finish and promotion to the top flight for the first time.

During the 1970s, players like Stan Bowles and Gerry Francis put the club in the limelight as they came desperately close to the Division One title in 1976. But it wasn't to be, and it represented the pinnacle of QPR's fortunes even though the club remained in the top flight until 1996 (but for a brief four-year spell in Division Two between 1979 and 1983).

Recent times have been less stable, dropping into the third tier for three seasons in the early 2000s. But the resurgence in the last few years has been an extraordinary one and in 2010/1, the club were dominant winners of the npower Championship. The Premier League beckoned once more.
