HISTORY

Millwall is one of those clubs whose reputation arguably precedes them due to former hooligan issues at a time when many clubs in the Football League had an unsavoury element to the fanbase. However, times have indeed changed and in recent years, the Lions have incredibly found themselves at the Millennium Stadium to take on Manchester United in the FA Cup Final.

Despite defeat, technicalities meant that the club qualified for a European adventure... a far cry from the early days of the club. Now Millwall have a bit of investment behind them, and perhaps there may be dreams of one day reaching the Premier League - the first time the club will have made the top flight since the late 80s.

Certainly, the 2009/10 League One playoff win moved them closer, with former Boro' frontman Steve Morison firing some important goals. The club very nearly repeated the trick in 2011 but fell away in the chase fot the Championship playoffs as the season drew towards its close.
