Leytonstone Ilford was formed in 1979 following the merger of Leytonstone and Ilford (funnily enough) and had a brief, albeit fairly successful life. Within three seasons of its inception, the club had won the Isthmian League Premier Division title but were relegated in 1985. The club returned to the Premier Division in 1987 and a year later absorbed Walthamstow Avenue into its ranks before winning its second Premier Division title.

Still not finished, the club rebranded itself as Redbridge Forest in 1990 and won a third title in the 1990/1 campaign to earn a place in the GM Vauxhall Conference. A respectable sevent-place finish in 1992 was to bring the curtain down on a short, sharp, whirlwind existence as a single entity, as it opted to merge with Dagenham to form Dagenham and Redbridge.
