Formed as Leicester Fosse, the Foxes have enjoyed a long and marked history over the years as one of the mainstays of English League football. The Football League championship has eluded the club despite a second place finish during the 1920s, but Leicester City have more than stood up to the test of the big teams in the FA Premier League in the past decade - particularly under the guidance of Martin O'Neill.
The wheels had rather fallen off in recent seasons, with a slide into the third tier of English football something that won't be considered a highlight. But instant promotion back to the Coca-Cola Championship left the club in position to consolidate and perhaps push on towards a return to the top flight.
